School Prefects

House Captains

House Captains and Vice-Captains at The Ursuline Preparatory School have a variety of tasks to perform throughout the school year.

One of the main roles of the House Captain is to be a good role model to the other children in the same house, and to develop team spirit and camaraderie. They aim to inspire the children in their house team to earn points. These are counted every half-term, with the winning team raising the House Cup at the closing assembly of half term. This role helps the girls develop self-confidence and leadership skills before embarking on their High School journey.

Class Prefects

Class Prefects are required to perform some simple tasks for the class to which they have been assigned.

During "wet play" for example, all class prefects will be expected to help an adult supervise the children in their class in terms of play activities, snacks and drinks. They will also help out with lost jumpers, shoes on the wrong feet, and build up a caring and supportive network for the younger children.

Having older girls support younger children is invaluable in terms of developing self-confidence for the older girls and reassurance to our younger children.

Music Captain

The girl chosen to be Music Captain for the year will perform a number of tasks for our specialist Music teacher. She may help set up music stands and instruments prior to concerts and recitals. She will help call the choir in for practice, and similarly organise the orchestra. She may also need to hand out paperwork for the music teacher and ensure that paperwork and sheet music is handed back.

Games Captain

Similarly the girl who is chosen to be Games Captain will perform tasks for our Sports Teacher. The posting of team sheets, collation of permission to play slips and keeping the Sports Teacher informed of any injuries will be her main focus. She may also be required to help set up for practice sessions.
